Avast is an antivirus program that is designed to guard your computer against viruses and malware. It comes with a variety of different modules that work together to check files, apps and websites for dangerous code or unsafe behavior. It then blocks those files or websites if it detects any danger. It also moves any potentially unsafe downloads to quarantine where they will be kept away from your system until you can manually approve them as safe.
Sometimes Avast can become overzealous and prevent access to websites which are actually safe. This can be irritating and may cause problems with certain services on your computer. If you notice that your antivirus is blocking websites, it is easy to fix the issue with just a few steps.

Once you’re in the settings window, select protection, then core shields, scroll down and select web shield. In the web shield selection click the Add an exception button and enter the URL of the website you would like to access.
